The Choghadiya or Chogadia is a tool used to determine the best timing to begin a new project. Because of its simplicity, Choghadiya can be used for any muhurtha, although it is traditionally used for travel muhurthas. To begin an auspicious work, Amrit, Shubh, Labh, and Char are the four nice Choghadiya. Avoid the three awful Choghadiya, Rog, Kaal, and Udveg.
Day Choghadiya is the period of time between sunrise and sunset, while night Choghadiya is the period of time between sunset and the next day's sunrise. A component of the Vedic Hindu calendar, Panchang, is Choghadiya Muhurat. In Hindi, "Cho" signifies "four," "Ghadi" means "clock," and "Choghadiya" adds out to 96 minutes. The Choghadiya is an antiquated method of measuring time in India that is about equal to twenty-four minutes.

Choghadiya is a system of timekeeping used in Hindu astrology to identify auspicious and inauspicious periods during the day for various activities. It divides the day into specific time slots, each ruled by different planetary combinations, with some periods considered favorable (Shubh) and others unfavorable (Ashubh).
Choghadiya is calculated based on the division of daytime (from sunrise to sunset) and nighttime (from sunset to sunrise) into eight equal parts. Each part is approximately 1 hour and 30 minutes long. The ruling planet and the quality of time (Shubh or Ashubh) are determined based on the Panchang or Hindu calendar.
Activities commenced during the Udveg periods are believed to face obstacles or challenges. • Labh: Signifies auspicious moments and is considered ideal for initiating new activities.
Ashubh Choghadiya is considered unfavorable for initiating new projects, signing contracts, undertaking journeys, or engaging in activities that carry risks or uncertainties. It is advisable to avoid important undertakings during these periods.
Gulika, also known as Mandi, is a sensitive point in Vedic astrology used for assessing the influence of Saturn in a birth chart. It represents a hypothetical position in the zodiac and is believed to have malefic effects, particularly if it aligns with certain sensitive points in the chart.
Rahu Kaal, also known as Rahu Kalam, is a period of time considered inauspicious in Hindu astrology. It is associated with malefic effects attributed to the shadow planet Rahu. Rahu Kaal occurs every day and varies in duration depending on the length of the daytime.
Rahu Kaal occurs every day during specific hours, which are calculated based on the planetary hours (Hora) and the position of Rahu in the zodiac. The duration of Rahu Kaal varies depending on the length of the daytime and is typically longer on Saturdays.
